Based on the end-user requirements, the UCs were carefully designed to tackle the most demanding challenges from the advanced AR, VR and Holographic-based applications, which ultimately allow to validate, demonstrate and showcase the edge/cloud computing innovations of the CHARITY project.

Training and simulation demand absolute fidelity to achieve full immersion to the virtual environment. The main challenge is to lower the CPU/GPU overhead while reducing data transfer and supporting a large number of concurrent users.

Mixed reality combines Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality to provide the interface that connects humans to the cyber-physical settings. The main challenges are: fast world simulation, very low network communication latency and coherency of the simulation across geographically distributed participants.
